  1. How does the design that you created demonstrate your knowledge of Magazine Design and the parts of a magazine cover and interior? In creating the cover and interior of a magazine, knowledge of what every magazine has is imperative. In knowing this, it then becomes possible to put your own twist on the basic layout of an average magazine. While creating the cover of my magazine I included several cover lines, a selling line, etc. thus demonstrating my knowledge that every magazine has those eye-catching features as part of Magazine Design and the parts of a magazine cover.

2. In what ways does your magazine connect to the corporate identity of the magazine? What are some design queues that you used from the existing magazine?

While doing the cover of “Vogue” I took the font selections and type of photos they usually use very seriously, and in doing that I created a cover that matches their cooperate identity. In using a front facing, somewhat close up photo as the main photo, the “Vogue” appeal is met. As I chose fonts, I looked for some with a pointed bottom and some that have a more round look to really capture the essence of the fonts that they typically use. I was sure to have the cover lines tight together so it’s easy to see which cover line belongs to which heading, like they do, and I used different fonts for the same cover line, like they do.

3. How did completing the brainstorming packet and sketches affect your design process?

The brainstorming packet allowed me to get all of my idea organized and on paper in front of me so that when I was writing the cover lines and main cover line, I knew which statements to use. Because I wrote them down first, it was easy to think of new ideas since I knew what I already had,

4. How did you like working with a partner? How do you think working with a partner makes the design process easier and more difficult?

I personally do not like working with a partner in any situation, unless I really need help. Since I didn’t need help on this project and in some cases partners have different tastes, having a partner only made this harder since we had to agree on everything. Also, I feel as though the project took such a long time because it was hard for my partner and I to agree on everything.

5. Looking at your partner’s design, if you were to design your partner’s portion by yourself how would it look different? What would you have changed?

I wouldn’t change my partner’s work because of the fact that she did such a good job with the layout and capturing the cooperate identity. If I had done it, it probably would look a little different because of the difference in the way we see things stylistically, but for the most part it would be the same.

6. Describe the ideal partner (co-worker / co –designer)?

The ideal partner would be someone open to criticism and suggestion, but also be able to do their assigned work on their own, and getting it done efficiently.
