1. How does the design that you created demonstrate your knowledge of playing card design?
My card demonstrates my knowledge of card design in many ways. First, I use symmetry. Every card of mine has a reflected image, so either way you hold the card you can see the design. Also, I stuck with a constant color scheme with the generic numbers and pictures on their respective cards.
2. How would the rest of the deck look? What would you do for the other picture cards? Please describe in detail?
The other number cards would be the exact same as the number card I made, just with all the other numbers and shapes such as diamonds and clubs, to create a sense of unity. The other picture cards would have that same soldier but instead of the crown I put on the king card I would add a feminine aspect to the queen card. The camo border would be used throughout all the picture cards, and the camo background on all the number cards.
3. How does your design demonstrate your knowledge of adobe illustrator?
Throughout the project, I made several clipping masks and image traced many images. Also, I used the reflect feature, both vertically and horizontally.
4. What do you feel was the most challenging part of this project and why?
The most challenging part was thinking of a design that could work for the entire deck, not just the 3 I was designing. In doing this, a distinct color scheme has to be established and fonts that matched had to be chosen.
5. If you can change one requirements what would it be and why?
I would change the 5 color limit. In seeing special decks for occasions, companies, and bands I’ve noticed that there are more than 5 colors used. In making the cards as realistic as possible, I feel as though this requirement was limiting.
